MUMBAI: Two tak-tak gang members who targeted a lawyer and stole his bag of cash and documents from his car on Mohammed Ali Road in south Mumbai recently, were arrested on Saturday. The accused, Vishwanath Mudliyar (30) and Sarannath Mudliyar (23), both residents of Tamil Nadu, were identified with the help of CCTV camera footage of the area.
The incident took place on October 31 when the complainant, advocate Vinay Masurkar, had gone to a shop and his driver was waiting for him in the car. "The duo knocked on the car window and told the driver that cash had fallen outside the vehicle. When the driver got off, they opened the rear seat door and stole Masurkar's bag containing Rs 60,000, cheque books, notary papers and other documents.
In July, a similar gang targeted a Daman-based CA at Grant Road and fled with his laptop and bag containing Rs 3.7 lakh.
