Training programme on Krishikosh

The Satyanand Stokes Library of the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni organized a training-cum-sensitization workshop on ‘Krishikosh Repository- A tool for Strengthening Agriculture Knowledge’ in collaboration with the ICAR –IARI, New Delhi for the benefit of faculty members and postgraduate students of the university.

Over 250 students and faculty members of the university participated in the workshop. The main objective of this sensitization programme was to apprise students and faculty on the digital contents on scientific output in research available in Krishikosh.

University Librarian Dr Anju S. Khanna emphasized the benefits of digitization in general and Krishikosh in particular. She urged the audience to make maximum use of the digital facilities available in the library. She said that the students can browse all the theses available in the University library through the Krishikosh database as all the theses had been digitized. Dr Amrender Kumar also made a detailed presentation on Krishikosh. The university has proposed more such training programmes in future for the benefit of the students and faculty members.

Krishikosh repository of the ICAR presently possesses more than 97000 theses available in full text for free access so that duplication of research work could be avoided. The university library has digitalized all the 3813 theses and uploaded it in the Krishikosh database. In the era of digitization, the training was very useful and beneficial for the students and faculty members of the University. Assistant Librarians Dr Neelam Sharma and Yashoda Negi were also present on the occasion.
