A man had his genitals and eyelids cut off and placed on a fireplace during a horrific killing at a home in a leafy Dublin estate, it has been claimed.

The victim, named locally as Limbani Mzoma, who also used the name Robert, is said to have been found in a pool of his own blood.

Mr Mzoma, who is understood to be from Ghana but may have links to Malawi, died in a house at Dublin's leafy Foxrock housing estate Tudor Lawns.

His genitals were 'removed from the body' as well as his eyelids.

A source told Dublin Live: 'The scene is in a house where a number of non nationals have been living. There has been a lot of trouble at the property and gardai were called there on Thursday afternoon.' 

'They dealt with a public order incident and left when they were called back at 11.30pm they discovered the dead man dead.

'The severed penis was found on top of the fireplace and they also chopped off his eye lids.'

Gardai have arrested a woman in her 40s following the incident.

She was in the house when they arrived - she and two men were questioned by gardai.

However she was the only one who was arrested and was held in Dun Laoighaire Garda Station where she was detained and questioned. 

The estate where the horror happened is a leafy estate of expensive mock tudor houses - there is a large, well kept green area, and a private parking attendant.

It is near the Leapordstown Racecourse and is a well known affluent area - senior gardai including Assistant Commissioner Pat Leahy attended the scene.

Tudor Lawn residents were in deep shock yesterday and were too afraid to give their names when they spoke to Dublin Live.

One elderly woman, living a few doors from the scene, said that there had been a lot of trouble at the house. 

Gardai released a statement yesterday and appealed for witnesses.

A spokesman said: 'Gardaí investigating the circumstances of the discovery of the body of a man in a house at Tudor Lawns, Foxrock have made an arrest.

'A woman (40s) has been arrested in relation to this investigation and is currently detained at Dun Laoghaire under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.'
