GHAZIABAD: Nine persons have been booked for allegedly gang-raping a 25-year-old woman in Loni on October 28. An FIR was registered on Friday after the woman’s husband lodged a complaint with the SSP’s office.
The complainant said his wife had gone missing on the night of October 28 when she had gone to the market. She was found unconscious three hours later in a nearby field.

The woman’s husband, a house painter, said: “My wife had stepped out of the house around 8pm on October 28 to buy some medicines from the local market. When she did not return home till 11pm, I frantically started looking for her. She was found near the field after some time. When she regaining consciousness, she narrated the entire incident,” he said.

The woman accused a few youths from the locality — Yusu, Rehan and seven others — of forcibly taking her to a secluded place and taking turns to rape her. They fled after committing the crime.

The woman’s husband said he dialled 100 to call the police, but the cops who came to the spot allegedly did not provide him much help. He subsequently went to the local police station and then to the SSP’s office to lodge a complaint in the matter. On the SSP’s directive, an FIR under sections 376 D (gang rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC was registered against the nine accused. SHO (Loni) Umesh Kumar Pandey said a medical test of the woman has been done and further inquiry into the case is going on. The accused are yet to be arrested, Pandey added.

The woman has been living with her husband in a rented accommodation in Loni for the past two years.
