NCP corporator disqualified for role in building illegal structures
Manoj Badgeri | TNN | Nov 3, 2018, 23:59 ISTTHANE: NCP corporator Moreshwar Kine from Mumbra was disqualified by civic chief Sanjeev Jaiswal on Saturday following establishment of his role in construction of two illegal structures in the city.
Kine, who contested and won from 31D seat in Mumbra had constructed two illegal buildings in the township, but had failed to mention the same in the affidavit he submitted before the election department in 2017. Meanwhile, a writ petition was filed by his political rival Balasaheb Jambhale against Kine in the Bombay high court (HC) alleging his role in the construction of the illegal structures.
Accordingly, the HC directed the TMC to take appropriate action following which a probe was launched by the local civic team that confirmed the same after which action was taken.
“Kine’s name reflected on our official records as the builder of the two illegal buildings. He was issued notices for the same as per the municipal laws, but he failed to respond with substantial documents validating his stand in the hearings before the civic body,” said a civic official.
Kine was given ample time to validate his point before the senior officials, but he failed to do so prompting the administration to take corrective action based on the court’s directives. Accordingly, Jaiswal on Saturday disqualified Kine as a TMC corporator according to Section 10 (1D) of the Maharashtra Municipal Act.
