Elon Musk All Fired Up About Tesla’s “Super-Futuristic Cyberpunk” Pickup Truck

Tesla’s Elon Musk has revealed his excitement for the brand’s upcoming electric pickup truck. In fact, speaking with Recode, Musk said that the pickup is the one Tesla vehicle he is most interested in.

”I’m personally super-excited by this pickup truck. It’s something I’ve been wanting to make for a long time. And I’ve been iterating sort of designs with Franz… It’s like I really wanted something that’s like super-futuristic cyberpunk.”

The sole teaser image of the pickup released revealed a vehicle so gargantuan that it can fit a Ford F-150 in its bed. Musk admits that the vehicle’s size could divide opinions but doesn’t really care.

“If there’s only a small number of people that like that truck, I guess we’ll make a more conventional truck in the future. But it’s the thing that I am personally most fired up about. It’s gonna have a lot of titanium,” he added.

Quizzed about why he is so enthusiastic about the pickup truck, Musk said that it will be “heart-stopping,” is “gonna be amazing,” and “gonna be awesome.”

“You know, I actually don’t know if a lot of people will buy this pickup truck or not, but I don’t care. I mean I do care, eventually, you know. Like sure, I care. We wanna get gasoline, diesel pickup trucks off the road,” he added.

Tesla intends on introducing its massive pickup after the Model Y crossover launches next year. Based on its size, it is believed that the pickup will share many of its components with the all-electric Tesla Semi that’s currently being developed.
