The Supreme Court Friday issued notice to Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and her son Dushyant Singh for allegedly receiving compensation of Rs 1.97 crore by selling government land to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in 2010, according to news agency PTI. The apex court agreed to hear a plea filed by Rajasthan-based lawyer Srijana Shresha seeking a CBI probe against the duo.

A three-judge bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justices K M Joseph and Hemant Gupta, issued notice to Raje, her son and the CBI and sought their response within four weeks.

As per the petition, Raje and her son claimed ownership of a 567-square metre property near Dholpur Palace and in turn sold it to the NHAI for Rs 1.97 crore to widen a national highway, causing loss to the state exchequer. At the time, Raje was Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

The Delhi High Court had dismissed the plea and a CBI probe on August 8 after which the petitioner moved the SC. Justice R K Gauba had rejected the petition which challenged the April 2015 special CBI court decision on the grounds that no prior sanction was obtained as required under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
