They demanded that the world’s largest search engine, which employs over 80,000 people, must address rising concerns about workplace inequality. Reuters reported that the protests took place in Asia, Europe and North America, and at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. The protests followed the report that Google in 2014 gave a $90 million exit package to senior vice-president Andy Rubin after he was accused of sexual harassment. Google did not dispute the report. Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said he was taking note of the “concrete steps” workers presented to improve the company’s culture.
