PUNE: The Pune rural police claimed to have solved the mystery behind the murder of a man, whose partially burnt body was found in Bhivadi village in Purandar taluka about 45km from here on October 26.
The case was cracked on Friday after the local crime branch of Pune rural police established the man’s identity with the help of missing person’s complaint registered with the Shikrapur police. Inspector Dayanand Gawade said that the victim Abhishek Ajay Singh (25) was missing from October 24. His father had lodged a complaint.
Gawade said that during the probe the police got information that on October 24, Singh was seen with two men Pankaj Gaikwad (21) and Hrishkehs Bhorade (22) at Sanaswadi near Shikrapur. “We swung into action and took the duo into custody. During the questioning the duo admitted their involvement in the murder of Singh,” Gawade said.
Gawade said that Singh had taken Rs 33,000 from Gaikwad and Bhorade on the promise of purchasing a firearm for them. “Singh however was not giving them the weapon and was not ready to return the money,” Gawade said.
Furious by this the duo hatched the plot to eliminate him. “On October 24, they had invited Singh to Sanaswadi for drinking liquor. After few beers they took him to Wade Bolhai and stabbed him to death there,” Gawade said.
On the next day they took Singh’s body to Bhivadi village and set it on fire. “Singh had criminal cases registered against him,” Gawade said.
