2 UP men held with opium in Khanna

Ludhiana: Police arrested two Uttar Pradesh-based drug peddlers after opium was recovered from their possession in Khanna on Friday.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said, “At a check-point opposite Hedon police post, a police party signalled a car (UP-25-CH-0849) to stop. The car was coming from Khamano side. Its two occupants identified themselves as Sukhbir Singh of Bareily and Manoj Kumar of Badayun, UP. During checking, 2.5kg opium as found on each of the two.”


Samrala DSP Harsimrat Singh said, “Both Sukhbir and Manoj are couriers, who brought the consignment from Bareily to supply in Amritsar.”


Police said the cost of the consignment was Rs 4 lakh.


A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
