Julie Bishop made a very surprise appearance inside Usain Bolt's VIP booth at Melbourne's Derby Day on Saturday.

The former Minister for Foreign Affairs was one of the chosen few invited into the Olympian's exclusive table at the event's exclusive Mumm tent.

According to a Daily Mail Australia reporter at the event, Ms Bishop, 62, was seen getting her groove on to the music next to the legendary athlete.

Cutting a glamorous figure in a semi-sheer white shirt and stylish brimmed hat, she subsequently leaned in for a chat with the nine-time Olympic gold medalist.

And after a short encounter, Miss Bishop exited the exclusive booth.

Meanwhile other lucky celebrities who interacted with Bolt included reality star Scott Disick and his model girlfriend, Sofia Richie.

Bolt, who has been in Australia playing soccer for the Central Coast Mariners, was the only attendee to be given a VIP table inside the event's exclusive Mumm tent.

His table was surrounded by a red rope, and the athlete also had his own security detail.

According to one onlooker, the charismatic star also has a bevvy of female admirers flocking around him.

'Usain was being mobbed constantly and proved to be the biggest VIP of the day,' the source told Daily Mail Australia.

Elsewhere, the experience was quite different for Australia's home-grown reality stars, who were excluded from the VIP section and forced to mingle with mortals.

The Bachelor's Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich may have flown to Flemington in a helicopter, but their star status wasn't enough to get them behind the coveted rope.

And it was the same experience for fellow Bachelor couple Matty 'J' Johnson and Laura Byrne who also failed to enjoy the super VIP treatment experienced by Bolt and his entourage.
