10 long-route trains delayed by over 6 hrs

Ludhiana: More than 10 long-route trains arrived late by several hours at city railway station on Friday leaving the passengers with no option but to wait on the platforms. With the rise in incidents of chain pulling during the heavy rush, the trains are bound to get delayed. The peak festive season and ongoing construction work of limited height subways is adding to the problem.

Trains coming from eastern parts are facing maximum delay. On Friday, train number 18101 Tata Muri Express (from Tata Nagar to Jammu Tawi) arrived at platform number 2 with after a delay of seven hours and 45 minutes at around 12.50pm instead of 5.10am. Train number 15210 Jansewa Express (from Saharsa to Amritsar) also arrived in the city station after a delay of seven hours and 35 minutes at around 1.35pm instead of 6.35am. Train number 18101 Tata Muri Express (from Tata Nagar to Jammu Tawi) arrived in at platform number 2 after a delayed of six hours and five minutes at around 11.20am in the afternoon instead of reaching at 5.15am.


Station superintendent, Ashok Salaria, said, “Due to the construction work of limited height subways in the Northern Railways route, several long-route trains arrived late by several hours on Friday.”


Darbhanga-Amritsar Jan Nayak Express (15211), Amritsar – Howrah Mail (13006), Kolkata – Jammu Tawi Express (13151), Lohit Express faced a delay by four hours and 50 minutes, and reached the station at around 12.10pm instead of 7.30am.
