J-K: Encounter breaks out between security forces, militants in Shopian

The Shopian encounter comes two days after two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Budgam district Thursday. One soldier was also injured in the incident.

An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Khudpora village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district Saturday evening, ANI reported.

The latest development comes two days after two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Budgam district Thursday. One soldier was also injured in the incident. The slain militants were identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, a resident of Arizal in Budgam and Mohammad Amin Mir of Pampore in Pulwama district.

On October 30, two militants, including the nephew of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief, were killed by security forces following a day-long encounter at Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Usman Haidar, the nephew of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar, was a wanted sniper and is believed to have been behind the spate of attacks on security forces.
