Pimpri-Chinchwad: Police have proposed to file charges against a man who died six months ago. A newlywed woman filed an FIR against her in-laws and husband for beating, abuse, forced to eat leftovers and threats to set her ablaze. Six months ago, she filed the FIR, and her father-in-law died. It did not stop the police from including his name in the FIR.
The Wakad police said, as per the preliminary probe, when he was alive, he too would torture her, hence he was named. The complainant said, “During the first six months of marriage, I was very happy. My husband was employed. Suddenly, he quit his job as he wanted to set up his own business. He demanded `5 lakh from my parents.
When they refused, he began harassing me, calling me characterless, and thrashing me. My inlaws would starve me and force me to eat leftovers. They began to abuse me and threatened to set me ablaze.” During this time, her father-in-law died and the woman still went ahead and named him in the case.
