Bharuch/Surat: A large numbers of visitors at the Statue of Unity have complained that the online ticket booking services on the official site of the monument has malfunctioned and as a result many lost their money while making payment.
Some visitors were also upset as a major attraction like the laser show in the evening remained closed from the second day after the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31.
People who booked online tickets alleged while the money got deducted from their credit card they did not get the tickets in SMS form on mobile phones or through email while making the purchase.
The contact numbers mentioned on the website of Statue of Unity online booking were not reachable. Some who sent a complaint email and asked for refund did not get response.
One of the visitors on condition on anonymity said, “I had booked ticket online for 15 persons and paid Rs5,700. However, the booking failed and I did not get a confirmation. But the money got deducted from my account.” He claimed that many visitors faced similar problems with online ticket booking.
Some visitors also complained that the ticket of Rs 350 was very high.
Devendra Vasava, a visitor from Valia said,“ I was surprised to know the various fees. I did not carry much money, three members of our family decided not to visit viewing gallery.”
Ketan Parekh of Vadodara said "It is too expansive, we just went and came back from booking office. I felt that spending of Rs1,050 to see the dam from a gallery is not worth the price. The government must reduce the fees.”
