10 injured as ceiling collapses at construction site
Nov 4, 2018, 00:25 ISTCoimbatore: Ten construction workers were injured after the second floor of an under-construction building collapsed at Vinayakapuram in Saravanampatty here on Saturday.
Three of the injured, identified as Prakash, Selvakumar and Santhosh, were admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) with serious injuries, while the remaining were treated as outpatients. A police officer said the incident occurred at 5pm when the labourers were working on the second floor of the under-construction building. “Its ceiling collapsed soon after they removed the scaffolding and they were stuck under the debris.” In total, 54 construction workers were deployed at the site.
