JAIPUR: A manifesto has been released by a group of activists for the upcoming assembly elections in the state, in which they have demanded for a complete ban on tobacco production and cultivation in the state.

As per the data published by them, around 10 lakh lives are being taken by Tobacco in India in one year alone. According to the Global Adult Tobacco Survey 2016-17, in Rajasthan, 24.7% of adults are current tobacco users in any form, out of which 39.6% are males and 9% are females.

In a press conference organised by an NGO named Vaagdhara, the manifesto has asked government to form strict policies for curtailment of tobacco products, especially online sale of e-cigarettes, which are attracting youth, and also initiation of vendor licensing policy. Rakesh Gupta, a Cancer specialist said government should follow the advisories from the Centre and implement the directions.
