Before suicide, pregnant woman says porn addict hubby, in-laws tortured her

HASSAN: A two-month pregnant woman, who was married five months ago, committed suicide by consuming poison in Vijayanagar here on Wednesday evening after recording a video message, alleging torture from her husband and in-laws.
Neha Sharif, 19, was married to Aadil, a resident of Sakleshpur. In the video, Neha alleged that she was harassed for dowry and said her in-laws physically assaulted her, despite knowing that she is pregnant.

She said her husband is a porn addict who assaulted her every night for sex. “My husband tortured me for sex every night and injured my private parts. Even after I was pregnant, the torture continued,” she stated in the video.

Neha said her family managed to give dowry in the form of gold ornaments, cash and other belongings, but Aadil and his family members started torturing her one week after the marriage, demanding more dowry.

Family members said she had approached police a few days ago. “My husband and in-laws and other family members were threatening to kill me. They were not giving me proper food and water. They made me and my parents to lose our privilege. I had approached police for protection, but to no avail,” said the victim.

She concluded the video by stating she and her family do not have a single rupee. “Till now, I have given many troubles to my parents and I do not want to continue this further. I wish to get justice after death and want my husband and his family to be punished as per law,” she stated.

SP Prakash Gowda said police have launched an investigation and the accused are absconding.
