Police busted a gang involved in preparing bogus bus passes of civic-run transport undertaking BEST with the arrest five people Friday, an official said.
The gang had made at least 400 bogus BEST bus passes, causing loss to the transport undertaking, he said.
Four of the gang members were arrested from Chembur in eastern suburbs, while the fifth one was held from Wadala bus depot, the official said.
Among them, one person is an employee of Trimax Company which has a contract of preparing BEST's monthly travel passes, he said.
The police recovered 37 bogus travel passes from the private company employee, the main accused who was arrested from Wadala bus depot, he said.
The gang used to issue bogus monthly bus passes and pocket the money, the official said, adding further probe is underway.
