NEW DELHI : Congress social media head Divya Spandana kicked up a Twitter storm after she tweeted a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi standing at the foot of Sardar Patel's statue in Gujarat with a caption, "Is that bird dropping?"
The tweet seen by many as disrespectful of the Prime Minisiter, led to angry responses from BJP. While the Congress was not forthcoming on whether Spandana should have tweeted thus, the social media head remained unapologetic about her post.
Speaking to TOI , she said, "The media should focus on more pressing issues. As for the tweet, I cannot be held responsible for people's imagination or inference of it. As for disrespecting the office of PM; he does not respect the Constitution himself."
Her defence notwithstanding, on social media, the attack on her post was unrelenting. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleging "this is the real culture" of the Congress party and claimed that the party misses no opportunity to "abuse" the Prime Minister of India.
"This is nothing but language of arrogance from the Congress party for the normal Indian, who, with his sheer hardwork, became the Prime Minister of the country," he said.
