Murder: Man gets life imprisonment

Tirupur: The Tirupur district additional sessions court on Friday sentenced a 51-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering a man over petty quarrel.

V Ramesh of Karaipudur was murdered on May 29, 2017. The Palladam police registered a case and arrested Mani alias K Palanisamy of the same locality for the murder.


According to police, Palanisamy was caught red-handed by Ramesh when the former tried to steal petrol from the latter's motorcycle.


Ramesh scolded him in public and it angered Palanisamy. Following the incident, Palanisamy invited Ramesh for a drink. When they consumed alcohol together, Palanisamy murdered Ramesh using a wooden log.


The case was tried before the Tirupur district additional sessions court. Judge A Mohmed Jiyaputheen on Friday sentenced Palanisamy to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
