VADODARA : Workers of Apna Dal, an ally of the NDA, allegedly created ruckus near the Statue of Unity on Thursday. Nearly 1,500 party workers from Uttar Pradesh reached the site to see the statue. They reportedly demanded free entry and had heated arguments with the staff there. The workers, who travelled to the state by Ekta Express, were to attend the inauguration programme on Wednesday but they got late. Apna Dal is led by union minister, Anupriya Patel.

All of them then reached the Statue of Unity on Thursday. While some of them bought entry tickets, most demanded free entry. After several arguments and intervention by Apna Dal’s senior leaders, the workers were reportedly allowed to entry for free. Later the other visitors created ruckus and questioned the free entry for the party workers.

Locals said that Gujaratis including NRIs have started visiting the statue but there is confusion over entry fees and access areas.tnn
