Bofors scam: SC quashes CBI plea against Hinduja brothers

New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the CBI appeal, challenging the Delhi High Court judgement discharging Hinduja brothers – Srichand, Prakashchand and Gopichand Hinduja – in the Bofors payoff case.

A three-Judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, dismissed the appeal filed by CBI, saying “We are dismissing the appeal of the CBI on inordinate delay.”

The national investigating agency had failed in its duty to file an appeal within the stipulated 90-day period of the 2005 Delhi HC judgement in the Bofors payoff case, the court observed. Another appeal is still pending before the Supreme Court in the case of lawyer Ajay Aggarwal.
