Sacred ornaments missing: Swami
TNN | Nov 2, 2018, 23:35 ISTT’puram: Swami Sandeepanada Giri, whose ashram was attacked by unidentified miscreants early this week, has alleged that some ornaments from ‘Thiruvabharanam’ (sacred ornaments of Lord Ayyappa) have gone missing.
Addressing a ‘meet the press’ programme, he said that Travancore Devaswom Board and state government were responsible to take measures to retrieve the lost jewellery that were kept in a temple managed by the erstwhile royal family of Pandalam.
He made the allegations on the basis of a report on ‘Ashtamangala prasnam’ held in Sabarimala on June 15, 2018. “The report clearly mentions about missing of jewellery, including the golden horse Vaji. Many of the jewellery which were used to adorn the deity in the past are not seen today,” he said.
He also sought restoration of the rights of the Malayaraya community. “There are indications in connection with the rights of the Malayaraya community in reports dating back to 1876. Even the 18 steps leading to the shrine have connections to the 18 deities worshipped by hill tribes living around the shrine,” he added.
When asked about the current scenario regarding relationship with RSS, swami replied, “The main problem RSS has with me is my ideology. They have no rights to tell me how to present Bhagavad Gita. It is quite clear from the time of Gandhi itself that they always had issues with people who didn’t follow their ideology. I am not a swami who will speak as per the demands and wishes of RSS.” tnn
