Spilt Milk no longer a sold out event after Childish Gambino cancels

When festival favourite Childish Gambino cancelled his Australian tour - which included a performance at Canberra's Spilt Milk - due to a foot injury, fans immediately took to social media, their grief manifesting in colourful ways.

"I’m GUTTED. Childish Gambino is the only reason I bought Spilt Milk tickets and was gonna travel hours and interstate for," said one Twitter user.

Others went on personal crusades, reaching out to other hip hop artists, asking them to replace Gambino.

One Aussie legend remained pious in his love of the writer/actor/comedian/director/rapper and created an event on Facebook called 'Sit outside Opera House & play Childish Gambino on my UE boom'.

Facebook user Sheldon Mcloughlin created the DIY music event to preserve a good evening, and the money he spent on Queensland-Sydney flights.

For those who were more set on seeing homegrown favourites Peking Duk and Vera Blue or indie rock boiz The Wombats at the Canberra festival, there is one upside.

After event organisers Kicks Entertainment began offering refunds to ticket holders no longer keen to attend, more tickets have become available to the previously sold out event.

So to the desperate folks who were going to buy tickets from Gumtree flogs for upwards of $300: save your dosh.
