The Forest Department’s tableau on preserving forest and wildlife was adjudged the best at the procession held to mark Rajyotsava celebrations here on Thursday.
The department’s tableau was on the concept ‘Namma Nade Vanyajeevigala Kade’ (Our walk towards wildlife). With ‘Hasiru Karnataka’ message written in the front, it also displayed messages around the vehicles on the need to protect elephants, tigers and leopards.
The uniqueness was that the department did not use flex. “The messages are painted on cloth. It took nearly 15 days for the artist to paint these messages,” said Range Forest Officer R. Sridhar. A similar tableau was made by the department for the procession held to mark Independence Day, he said. The tableau of Tourism Department showcasing kambla, fishermen and yakshagana bagged the second place. Tableau of Women and Child Welfare, Health and Family Welfare, and Agriculture departments were also part of the procession. The procession was led by students from different schools and colleges and was held between Ambedkar Circle and Nehru Maidan.
