Results of second, fifth semester UG, second semester PG exams by December end

The Mahatma Gandhi University has plans to publish the results of its second and fifth semester undergraduate examinations and second semester postgraduate examinations by December-end.

Work on releasing the results began after the varsity opened its eight zonal-level centralised evaluation camps on Friday. “About 5,000 teachers have been deployed in the camps to evaluate the answer scripts of second and fifth semester undergraduate exams and second semester postgraduate exams,” said R. Pragash, Syndicate member and convener of its examination sub-committee.

Classes for undergraduate programmes have been suspended for 10 days from Friday to conduct the camps. “However, the actual days of loss in academic sessions will be only five considering the weekends and the Diwali holiday on November 6,” said Dr. Pragash.

Each centralised camp will have 600 to 800 faculty members representing various subjects.

As per official estimates, about 6.5 lakh answer scripts will be evaluated at the eight camps. The varsity had earlier decided not to give the answer scripts for home evaluation.

The decision was based on the assessment made by authorities that the quality of evaluation of answer scripts at home did not match the standards achieved in centralised camps. The number of answer scripts that came up for revaluation was higher for papers given under home evaluation compared to those evaluated at the centralised camps.

Each centralised evaluation camp will have one deputy chairperson in each subject followed by chief examiners and additional examiners. The assessment is being made based on the scheme of evaluation for each subject. Five scripts were evaluated by each faculty member on the first day of the centralised evaluation camp. The answer scripts will be taken to the main campus of the varsity from each camp every three days for entry of marks into a dedicated network of computers.

Marks entry

A special team of employees in the examination wing will enter the marks on a daily basis to streamline the entire process. The examination committee of the Syndicate will monitor the progress made at each centralised camp daily. Similar monitoring will be also carried out at the exam wing.
