The lawyer heading a civil suit against Harvey Weinstein has said the disgraced movie mogul could have targeted nearly 1,000 women.

Elizabeth Fegan, who has filed a class action suit against Weinstein, said at least 150 women have already come forward with allegations and added that she believes the actual number affected by his decades of alleged misconduct is likely much higher.

'I think we are talking about hundreds, I think it could be near a thousand,' Fegan told Sky News on Friday.

'I think that based on what we know, and what has already been made public, at least 150 women have come forward in some way,' Fegan said.

'On top of that we have employees who said that there were women in his office three times a week, where they would have to go in his office and clean up after him, knowing that he had just done something and ejaculated. 

'So if you're talking about three times a week at least for all the number of years he's been in power at Miramax and the Weinstein company, that's a lot of women. 

'When you look at how long this went on, we've talked to women that started with him in 1979 at Miramax, women through the 80s. 

'This was every day behavior. He was a bully and he was a predator.'

Fegan's suit, which involves at least 10 named plaintiffs, is one of 22 lawsuits and claims pending against Weinstein as of the beginning of November.   

He is also currently facing five criminal charges which include two counts of predatory sexual assault, criminal sexual act in the first degree, rape in the first degree and rape in the third degree. 

If convicted he could face 10 years in prison. 

Weinstein has 'vehemently' denied ever committing any criminal acts.

Predatory Sexual Assault (Class A-II Felony) - 10 years to life in prison

 A person is guilty of predatory sexual assault when:

1. In the course of the commission of the crime or the immediate flight therefrom, he or she:

(a) Causes serious physical injury to the victim of such crime; or

(b) Uses or threatens the immediate use of a dangerous instrument; or

2. He or she has engaged in conduct constituting the crime of rape in the first degree, criminal sexual act in the first degree, or aggravated sexual abuse in the first degree.

Rape In the First Degree (Class B Felony) - Five to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 

A person is guilty of rape in the first degree when he or she engages

in sexual intercourse with another person:

1. By forcible compulsion; or

2. Who is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless; or

3. Who is less than eleven years old; or

4. Who is less than thirteen years old and the actor is eighteen years old or more.

Rape In the Third Degree (Class E Felony) -  Up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine

A person is guilty of rape in the third degree when:

1. He or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person who is incapable of consent by reason of some factor other than being less than seventeen years old;

2. Being twenty-one years old or more, he or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person less than seventeen years old; or

3. He or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person without such person`s consent where such lack of consent is by reason of some factor other than incapacity to consent.

Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree (Class B Felony) - Up to 25 years in prison

A person is guilty of criminal sexual act in the first degree when he or she engages in oral sexual conduct or anal sexual conduct with another person:

1. By forcible compulsion; or

2. Who is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless;or

3. Who is less than eleven years old; or

4. Who is less than thirteen years old and the actor is eighteen years old or more.
