The banned CPI (Maoist) claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s attack in Chattisgarh’s Dantewada in which a video journalist from public broadcaster Doordarshan News and two policemen were killed.

The handwritten statement issued by Sainath, who identified himself as secretary of the Darbha Divisional Committee, said the media team was not their target and in future, they should desist from travelling with the police.

Sainath is suspected to be behind several attacks in South Bastar, including the one in which Congress leaders were killed.
