A top college rower from Kansas State University died suddenly from a rare bacterial infection.

????23-year-old Samantha Scott began complaining about symptoms and was thought to be suffering from tonsillitis.

????But KDVR reported that she was actually suffering from Lemierre’s syndrome which is a potentially life threatening bacterial infection.

????Treatment involves prolonged intravenous antibiotics although surgery of the jugular vein may also be required.

????Delays in treatment can lead to complications and can lead to bone infections, meningitis and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

????A GoFundMe page has been set up for Scott’s family and she is being remembered by her team as a “great leader.”????
