FOXBORO – Josh Gordon won’t say he’s been perfect here in New England, but he’s trying to stay on the right path.

Last weekend, there were two reports that said the Patriots wide receiver has recently dealt with issues with tardiness. The Athletic reported that Gordon was late to the Patriots bus on Sunday before the team’s flight to Buffalo. The Boston Herald reported to that receiver was also late to a meeting last week.

According to the NFL Network, Gordon was supposed to be disciplined by sitting out part of the first quarter. Instead, that didn’t happen and Gordon started.

The Providence Journal can confirm that Gordon was late on Sunday before the Patriots bus departed for T.F. Green Airport. On Friday, Gordon was asked if he’s done a good job with staying on time this season in Foxboro.

“If I haven’t, I’ve been helped along the way,” Gordon said. “So, I’m definitely thankful for all the help I’ve gotten here and I’m definitely appreciative to figuring my way out here.”

The comment was a slight admission. Gordon wouldn’t reveal too much about last week. When asked about the report, he responded, “I do not have any [comments] on it, but I heard about it.”

Gordon may have started, but his playing time was down last week in Buffalo. He played 64 snaps, but that was just 84.2 percent of the offensive plays. The week before, in Chicago, Gordon played 95.3 percent of the offensive snaps.

Gordon finished Monday's game with four catches on six targets for 42 receiving yards. He has 17 catches for 266 yards and a touchdown in five games with the Patriots this season. When asked how he thought he was doing in Foxboro, Gordon said, “Great.”

“I’m getting all the opportunity I could want,” Gordon added. “Patience from the treatment staff, coaching staff, teammates. Everybody has helped me along the way. It’s been a great opportunity and experience and hopefully, we just keep that going on through the rest of the season.”

The demands are certainly high inside Gillette Stadium. Being on time is just one of many. Gordon admitted the expectations are high, but said he thought that was warranted considering how much the organization gives to its players.

For Gordon, life is different in Foxboro. That could be a good thing. Of course, if he veers off course, the marriage won’t work.

“They’re a full service organization. I think we pride ourselves on that here,” Gordon said. “I think for a guy in my position, transitioning can be a difficult thing for you. They’ve made it real easy for me.”
