UP: Youth bludgeons sister to death over phone dispute in Firozabad

AGRA: A youth allegedly bludgeoned his 16-year-old younger sister to death after she confronted him on a stolen mobile phone.
The incident took place at Matawala Mohalla, Khairgadh police jurisdiction of Firozabad district on Thursday late night.

The victim identified as Shivani (16), was bludgeoned several times with a hammer on her chest and head by her elder brother Durvesh (21) while she was lying on a bed inside her room. At the time of the incident, one of her brothers, Vikas was in the next room along with his wife Pooja, who later caught Durvesh with a hammer.

Based on victim’s father Munna Lal, police booked Durvesh under IPC section 302 (murder) and arrested him.

Speaking to TOI, Ganga Saran, station house officer of Khairgadh said, "In the FIR Munna Lal has claimed, that his elder son bludgeoned his younger daughter over a phone dispute."


Though when TOI spoke to Vikas, the eldest among three siblings, he claimed, "There was no confrontation between Shivani and Durvesh. Shivani was sleeping on the bed when Durvesh killed him."


He said, "Durvesh was infuriated over our father’s decision to wed Shivani ahead of Durvesh knot. Druvesh was pressurizing to parents to get him a bride."


When asked about the stolen mobile allegation against Durvesh, Vikas said, "Yes he stole our maternal uncle Suresh's mobile phone but since it was a late night, no one confronted him. We thought to wait for uncle's arrival next morning so that Durvesh could be reprimanded in front of him.”


The body was sent for postmortem.
