Switzerland targets one million Indian tourists during winter

In 2017 the number of overnight Indian tourists to Switzerland was 7.48 lakh reflecting a 24 percent up than the previous year.

 

 

Claudio Zemp, Director of Switzerland Tourism India said that the in terms of hotel overnights in the period between January to August was up by 10 percent as compared to the same period last year.

 

 

There are plenty of options for Indian tourists looking at Switzerland as a travel destination and they intend to welcome one million Indian vistors by 2020.
In terms of international tourism inflow a major number of Indians tend to travel during May –June while the number gradually goes down during autumn-winter seasons.
Zemp said that more people from tier-two and tier-three Indian cities are visiting Switerzland. Youngsters are travelling looking for experimental and adventure tourism. The period between May and June comprise 70 percent of total Indian tourist inflow.

 

 

 

During autumn and winter not many Indian visit Switzerland although there is a scope of a lot of activities. The tourism board intends to extend the holiday season and highlight the destination as an all-year holiday destination in the Indian market.
In recent times there are a lot of tourism and infrastructural developments that include snow park on mount Titilis, igloo village where tourists can stay overnight and brought new cable cars to attract more visitors in winter.
