Dr B Pushpa Amarnath is new Karnataka Mahila Congress president

NEW DELHI: Continuing the process of organisational reshuffle within the party, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday appointed Dr B Pushpa Amarnath as Mahila Congress president in Karnataka.

"Congress president Rahul Gandhi has approved the name of Dr B Pushpa Amarnath as president of Karnataka State Mahila Congress", AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said in a press release.

AICC had nominated Ms Amarnath as a member.

Ms Amarnath is former Myusuru Zilla panchayat president, and general secretary of State Women Congress Committee.

The post became vacant after Laxmi Hebbalkar resigned from the post after she was elected MLA.
