SC declines urgent hearing to plea of Karti Chidambaram for permission to travel abroad

New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to give an urgent hearing to a mentioning by Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and an accused in the INX media case, seeking to travel aboard from November 3, Saturday.

Headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, the bench ruled, “We are not inclined to give an urgently hearing to the case. We will hear it in due course of time.

‘Karti Chidambaram going abroad is not a matter that needs to be taken up tomorrow,’ the bench said and refused to give an urgent hearing. CJI Gogoi said, ‘Stay in India.’

Karti Chidambaram’s counsel, had mentioned the matter before the apex court for an urgent hearing, seeking permission for his client to travel abroad, especially London and Austria.
