HSIL Ltd, the company behind Hindware brand of sanitaryware, plans to invest ₹ 90 crore to increase the capacity of its plastic pipes and fittings unit in Medak, Telangana.
An Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) platinum rated green plant, the first phase of the unit entailed an investment of ₹ 160 crore and got into commercial production in August.
The additional investment, of ₹ 90 crore, proposed to be made would increase the production capacity from current 30,000 tonnes to 45,000 tonnes by 2020, HSIL chairman and managing director Rajendra K.Somany said in a media interaction here on Thursday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Green Building Congress, Mr. Somany and HSIL Pipes Division president Rajesh Pajnoo said work on the fully automated plant began two years and benefited from the green building design in terms of less energy consumption and reuse of water. It is the only pipes and fittings facility of HSIL and the company, whose total revenue was ₹2,250 crore in 2017-18, expects the new plant to contribute ₹200 crore this fiscal. HSIL’s verticals include Building Products Division (BPD), Consumer Products Division (CPD), Retail Division and Packaging Products Division (PPD) and has 11 manufacturing facilities across the country.
On other plans of the company, Mr.Somany said HSIL is in the process of evaluating locations along the coast for a greenfield sanitaryware plant. The decision to go for a new plant comes in the backdrop of both its sanitaryware facilities in Bahadurgarh, Haryana and Bibinagar, Telangana, operating at full capacity – total of 4.2 million pieces a year. A decision on the proposed facility, on which the estimated investment is ₹110 crore, would be taken by this fiscal, he said. Besides augmenting supplies to the domestic market, the new plant would also export.
