Punjab: 100 yards around educational institutions to be Tobacco Free Zones

To further tighten the noose around the neck of offenders who are bent on violating the anti-law, government on Thursday said that 100 yard area around every educational institution will be put under the yellow line, demarcating them as Free Zone.

Yellow line Campaign was launched by Brahm Mohindra, Health, and while kick-starting "State No Day" which was organized at in Chandigarh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohindra said that this year 'State No Tobacco Day' was observed on the theme of 'Tobacco Breaks Heart'. A booklet on Tobacco- NCD control programme was also released in the function.

This has been initiated in all the districts of Punjab. Under this campaign, a yellow line is drawn to demarcate a tobacco-free zone.

Tobacco Cessation centres have been established in all districts of the state, which provide free and cessation medicines like Nicotine gums and patches to curb the use of tobacco.
