The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to win in the November 3 byelection to Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.

On Wednesday, former BJP Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok, who has been supervising the electioneering, visited the residence of late Melkote MLA K.S. Puttannaiah at Kyathanahalli, Pandavapura taluk, to seek support. Mr. Ashok, along with the party candidate Siddaramaiah and others, met Suneetha Puttannaiah.

Although Ms. Puttannaiah did not disclose her stand on the BJP’s appeal, she said the “Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) workers would be against JD(S) candidate L.R. Shivarame Gowda.” According to her, Mr. Kumaraswamy recently insulted her husband in Pandavapura.

Senior KRRS leaders expressed their displeasure over Ms. Puttannaiah for “indirectly assuring support” to the BJP that Mr. Puttannaiah had severely opposed throughout his life. “We will raise our objections with her,” a senior KRRS leader told The Hindu.
