Who is Kalvakuntla Kavitha ?
Daughter of Chandrashekhar Rao leader of Telangana Movement and first Chief Minister of Telangana state, K Kavitha started her political career by joining her father's movement for a seperate state of Telangana. Following which she launched an NGO, Telangana Jagruthi in August 2006. The organisation is credited for mobilising the youth and the women for the Telangana cause.After the formation of Telangana state in 2014, Kavitha contested general elections from Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency and won with over 170,000 vote-majority. She is the first woman parliamentarian from Telangana. Born on 13 March 1978, she studied computer science at the university of Southern Mississippi.After graduation she worked as Software Engineer in the USA before returning to India in 2004.Married to Devanapalli Anil Kumar,a businessman, she has two sons. Kavitha's name is often associated with Bathukamma,a floral festival of Telangana, which she has extensively promoted.
