Bad day for seeds at Canberra International
It was a bad day for the seeds in the women's draw of the Canberra International, with No.1 seed Arina Rodionova leading the charge out the exit door.
Japan's Risa Ozaki knocked her out 4-6 7-6 6-3 at Canberra's National Tennis Centre on Thursday to progress to the quarter-finals where she'll meet Astra Sharma.
No.3 seed Priscilla Hon was also beaten, by Zoe Hives 6-4 6-4, while No.6 seed Ellen Perez went down to France's Irina Ramialison 6-4 4-6 6-4.
In the men's, Jordan Thompson cruised through to the quarters, beating Rubin Statham 6-2 7-6, while Blake Ellis and Luke Saville fought an epic battle that took three tie-breakers to find a winner.
Ellis eventually progressed to set up a date with Thompson with a 7-6 6-7 7-6 victory.
