--IN 2017-18 FISCAL, 87000 BENEFICIARIES GIVEN LOANS WORTH RS 863 CRORE
--UNDER THIS SCHEME, UNFUNDED OR UNDERFUNDED SEGMENTS OF SOCIETY CAN GET LOAN OF UP TO RS 10 LAKH FOR DEVELOPING & REFINANCING BUSINESSES
Ludhiana, November 1, 2018: Ludhiana district has topped the state in Pradhan Mantri MUDRA (Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency Ltd) Yojana. For the 2017-18 fiscal, the Ludhiana district has achieved the maximum number of PMMY loans in Punjab state where 87,000 beneficiaries were benefitted for a total amount of Rs 863 crore.
Launched in April 2015 in country, the beneficiaries can get a loan amount of Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakh to enable growth and income generation amongst the hitherto unfunded or underfunded segments of our economy. In the financial year 2017-18, loan amount of Rs 863 crore has been distributed amongst 87000 such beneficiaries of Ludhiana district.
While providing further information, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal informed that the District Administration is committed for providing maximum benefit of welfare schemes to the eligible beneficiaries. She stated that to ensure all eligible beneficiaries get maximum benefit of welfare schemes, targets have been set for banks and they are achieving them with utmost dedication.
Dr Aggarwal said that for the current 2018-19 fiscal, Ludhiana district is already leading amongst other districts of the state. She said that in the current fiscal 2018-19, Ludhiana is again topping the state as loan amount of Rs 413.16 crore has already been distributed amongst 41932 beneficiaries by September 2018, whereas Bathinda is second, Sangrur third, Jalandhar fourth and Sri Muktsar Sahib fifth. In the entire state, loans of Rs 2843.35 crore have already been distributed amongst 397084 beneficiaries.
Dr Aggarwal informed that under the PMMY, beneficiaries can get loan amount of up to Rs 50,000 under the Shishu category, loans of Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh under the Kishore category while of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh under the Tarun category. This loan can only be given to the beneficiaries working under Manufacturing, Trading and Service sector only. She urged all such persons to contact their nearest bank for securing these loans under any of these 3 categories as strict instructions have already been issued to all banks.
