Ambala man booked after his wife commits suicide

PATIALA: Police here have booked a resident of Ambala under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for forcing his 21-year-old wife to commit suicide.
The cops said that the woman committed suicide by hanging herself to death at her father's house. The father of the deceased alleged that his son-in-law was demanding dowry and torturing her daughter, Arti Devi, ever since the two got married.
The deceased - a resident of Patiala - got married to the accused two months ago. The accused, an employee of a private company, used to torture the woman physically and mentally. The father of the deceased, who is a labourer, told cops that the accused was facing monetary issues.
As of now, the cops have handed over the body of the deceased to the family. "A case under Section 304-B (woman death caused by burn or injuries or other) against the accused, Tarun Kumar of Ambala city, has been registered on the complaint of the deceased's father.
In his complaint, the complainant stated that although his daughter did not leave any suicide note behind, she would often complain that Tarun tortured her for dowry.
"My daughter had come home only a few days ago and revealed her suffering," the father of the deceased said.
"We have initiated the probe after registering a case against the accused, who is on the run. We are hopeful of arresting him soon. The was got married to the accused in September this year," said the station house officer of Shambu police station.
