Ludhiana: Civic officials carried out a second draw on Wednesday at MC’s B Zone office for allotment of flats in Mundian Kalan to 273 beneficiaries from Vishwakarma Colony. One draw was organized earlier, in which 126 beneficiaries were covered. Officials claimed they had received payment from all beneficiaries.

Civic authorities are organizing these draws for getting possession of prime land from Sector 38-39 on Chandigarh Road. Around 750 families are to be shifted from Vishwakarma Colony to the flats. The land in Vishwakarma Colony belongs to Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada), and after vacating it, MC will hand it over to Glada, which has paid Rs13.31 crore to MC for completing the construction work of these flats for families to shift there.

MC superintending engineer HS Bhullar said: “It was the second draw of flats for which 273 beneficiaries were called up, and the first draw was conducted on August 13. So, the total number has now reached 399.” He said they would now start the process to shift people to the flats for taking possession of the land.
