The braces to correct the congenital deformity, where one or both feet of a child get twisted inward or outward, will be imported from the US.
Balrampur hospital director Dr Rajeev Lochan said until now children's feet had to be plastered every 15 days as part of correction technique. And in cases where this didn't work, surgery was the last option. "But now, children up to 10 years of age can wear this brace which has two shoes attached to a flexible plank. The deformity would get corrected in five to six years if the brace is worn regularly for 12 hours a day,' he said.
