While most teenagers are planning weekend activities with friends and figuring out what they want to do with their lives, 18-year-old Alannah Walton is busy taking the global modelling industry by storm.

At the tender age of 16, the Sydney-born beauty posed for famed photographer Mario Testino, and was recently confirmed for the coveted Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on her first attempt describing it as 'a dream come true'.

This successful audition is all the more impressive given she relocated to New York a matter of days before, as well as the fact the trial was Ms Walton's first international casting.

Ms Walton spoke to Vogue about landing the prolific VS job and making the transition from being a big fish in the Australian pond to working internationally with the creme de la creme of the fashion industry.

Taking to Instagram in September to share her delight at the news, Ms Walton wrote: 'I DID IT!!! I am so excited to announce that I will be walking in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2018.

'I am feeling so so so blessed and grateful… my dream has come true.'

Ms Walton told Vogue the process was 'very daunting', particularly being so far away from her native home in Sydney's Northern Beaches.

'I moved to New York one week before the casting – I had not worked internationally yet, so I truly had no idea what I was doing!' She said.

And proving self-doubt plagues even the world's most elite models, Ms Walton said she was 'nervous and definitely started to doubt' herself surrounded by hundreds of beautiful women on the day of her audition.

When Ed Razek, chief marketing officer of the Victoria's Secret parent company, told the Aussie beauty she had made the cut, Ms Walton revealed it caught her off guard.

'I guess…I prepared myself for a no, but I certainly was not prepared for a yes! Only my true friends and family know how hard I worked for this.'

Ms Walton said she did her best to prepare for the famously ruthless audition by pre-planning her outfit before leaving Australia, booking a hair stylist for the day of the casting and practicing her walk repeatedly to ensure she felt confident in heels.

The burgeoning model, who previously trained as a swimmer, also ramped up her workouts and cleaned up her diet in the run up to the casting call.

The gorgeous teenager previously said the class is a core part of her fitness regime, saying: 'It tones, sculpts and lifts your butt like nothing else – I love making it a regular part of my weekly routine as I always feel strong and elongated afterwards!'

Discussing the gruelling intensity of the VS audition process, Ms Walton stressed the limits models push themselves to in the lead up to the casting.

She also admitted the stateside modelling industry is a different world to its Australian counterpart, with the eyes of the paparazzi watching her every move.

Ms Walton will join fellow Aussie Victoria's Secret veterans Shanina Shaik and Kelly Gale on the runway in New York, while Melbourne-based south Sudanese model Subah Koj and Australia's Next Top Model alum Duckie Thot will also make their VS debut this year.

Filming for the 2018 show will take place on November 8.
