Karnataka: EC declares dry day for bypoll areas for 48 hours

BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjeev Kumar has declared a dry day for bypoll areas the state for 48 hours starting from 6 pm on November 1 and November 3 till midnight.
The by-elections for three parliamentary constituencies in Karnataka- Bellary, Shimoga, Mandya- and two legislative assembly constituencies-Jamkhandi, Ramanagaram will be held on November 3. Counting of votes will be done on November 6.
"Total 14.48 lakhs voter guides, one per family has been distributed. EVM, VVPATs will be used this time, NOTA is also in use. The timing of polls will be from 7 am to 6 pm," the CEO said.
"One VVPAT per assembly constituency will be randomly picked and all the slips will be counted and tallied with the electronic counts," he added.
