Chandigarh: Car rams into divider on Amritsar-Jalandhar highway, 3 dead, 1 injured

According to Station house officer (SHO) Heena Gupta of Police Division-8, the occupants were returning to Amritsar after attending a party in Jalandhar city and were under the influence of liquor.

THREE MEN died and one sustained serious injuries when the car, they were travelling in, hit a divider on Jalandhar-Amritsar highway near Pathankot Chowk on Wednesday midnight. All the victims, in their early 20s, hail from Amritsar.

Police said the deceased were identified as Sonu, Naresh, and Pawan, while the injured as Aakash.

According to Station house officer (SHO) Heena Gupta of Police Division-8, the occupants were returning to Amritsar after attending a party in Jalandhar city and were under the influence of liquor. The driver too was under influence and driving at a high speed, due to which he lost control over the Tata Indica car.

The SHO said that bodies of deceased have been handed over to the families and injured is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. No case was registered, she said. The condition of injured is stated to be serious.
