The Telangana Private Degree and PG Colleges Managements Association and Telangana Rural Colleges Managements Association comprising degree and Intermediate colleges said the government had reimbursed 75% of the fee dues till 2017-18 and it was responsive to their demands on various issues.
At a press conference here, representatives of these associations — Narender Reddy, Prakash, Parameshwar, and Siddeshwar — said some managements were bent upon discrediting the present government and supporting the opposition parties over fee dues and other academic and administrative issues related to college managements.
Closure of colleges
They said the closure of colleges in rural areas and towns was due to higher availability of seats than seat-seekers and the present government was not to blame for it.
“In fact, this government has been very responsive on the issues though there were initial hiccups — in the first two years — due to shortage of officials,” Mr. Parmeshwar said. On the JAC of Telangana educational institutions that extended its support to the opposition parties blaming the TRS that it was destroying private colleges to encourage corporate institutions, they said the JAC leaders had a political agenda and not the colleges’ agenda.
