Lebese and Sundowns meet over his lack of game-time

2018-11-01 17:35

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns out-of-favour winger George Lebese and his agent, Steve Kapeluschnik, have met with the club's management to discuss his lack of game-time.

The 29-year-old joined Sundowns last year in a high profile move from Kaizer Chiefs, however, he made just 10 Premiership appearances in 2017/18.

The player has reportedly had weight issues and was put on a specific weight loss programme to address this issue.

Nonetheless, despite shedding the poundage, the player remains firmly out of coach Pitso Mosimane's plans. In 2018/19, the former Glamour Boys star has not featured in a single match-day squad.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma website, Kapeluschnik said: “George has worked really, really hard to try and get into the team at Sundowns since he got there.

“He was put on a special programme and went on to lose a lot of weight and got into the sort of shape they wanted to see.

“He has done whatever has been asked, and of course he's frustrated that he's not playing because he came to Sundowns to play.

“We've now met with the club and explained his frustrations, which they understand, and they seemed very sympathetic to those frustrations.

“Whether he goes or not we don't know. Let's wait and see what happens in the coming months.”
