Delhi HC: Ensure sensitive photos in sexual assault cases not displayed on e-court monitors

Chief Justice Rajendra Menon, on the recommendations of the HC’s Information Technology Committee, issued the direction on Thursday. In e-courts, the case documents are digitised and made available on monitors of the judge and advocates.

The Delhi High Court issued a “practice direction”, directing counsel in sexual harassment cases to ensure that intimate and sensitive photographs of victims, filed with their petitions, is not displayed on the ‘e-court monitors’.

Chief Justice Rajendra Menon, on the recommendations of the HC’s Information Technology Committee, issued the direction on Thursday. In e-courts, the case documents are digitised and made available on monitors of the judge and advocates.

“It has come to the notice of this court that parties file intimate/sensitive photographs of victims of sexual offences with their petitions… which… are digitised for e-courts. Counsel for the parties who file such intimate/ sensitive photographs are advised to bring the same to the notice of the Hon’ble Judge hearing such cases to obviate such photographs from being shown on the monitors provided for advocates in the e-courts…,” stated the order.
